Frank Pearce on his exit from Blizzard

Co-founder of Blizzard leaves the business. Just a few months after Mike Morhaime left his position as CEO and president of Blizzard, his fellow founder, Frank Pearce, announced he was hanging his hat as Chief Development Officer as well.

Frank Pearce of Blizzard Entertainment leaves the business. He’s been nearly three decades in the studio. Blizzard’s effect on the gaming industry was undeniable. It seems he likes to concentrate on his private lives.

With Morhaime and Allen Adham, who left in 2004 but returned in 2016 to supervise the creation of several new titles, Pearce established the gaming company 28 years ago.

Frank Pearce and his colleagues established Blizzard Entertainment nearly three decades ago. The studio had a huge effect on the gaming industry because titles such as Diablo, Overwatch and Starcraft were manufactured by the team. Co-founder Mike Morhaime recently announced his departure from Blizzard.

Pearce didn’t tell what he’ll do next, just saying he’s planning to spend more active time outdoors, learn to play an instrument, and eventually devote more time to other parts of his life.

The director was never as noticeable as his co-founders, beginning as a programmer for some of the oldest titles of the company such as Diablo and StarCraft until he assumed the position of CDO.

Pearce said this on the official website of the studio. He talked about what he was going to do next.

“The time has come for me to step away from Blizzard and pass the torch to the next generation of leaders. My journey as part of the Blizzard community began over 28 years ago. Allen offered me an opportunity to join him and Mike in their adventure and dream to make video games. Video games were a passion that we shared, and I had only a fleeting hope that I would have the opportunity to make games one day… Everything I have done at Blizzard has been driven by my passion. I have worked very hard and very passionately for a very long time. Now it is time for me to reflect and be thoughtful about what comes next. I plan to spend more time active in the outdoors. I’d like to learn to play an instrument. I hope to devote more time to aspects of my life that may not have gotten as much attention in the past”.
