Epic Games two-factor authentication for free games: Here is how to enable it

The online era is overwhelmed with malicious sites and cybercriminals whose sole motive is to hack your personal data and in order to safeguard your Epic account, Epic Games two-factor authentication is a good initiative. A wide array of people go for two-factor authentication to stay safe but now you have to do the same if you want free games from Epic games store.

For the May month, Epic lured its users to enable two-factor authentication for claiming free titles from the game store. If you didn’t do yet then go ahead and enable.

In a blog post Epic revealed that “Beginning today and ending on May 21, we will periodically require two-factor authentication prior to claiming free games on the Epic Games Store.  We are making this change in an effort to encourage our players to take steps to strengthen their Epic account security”. 

The users who didn’t enable two-factor authentication will get an alert to activate it while trying to access free games from the Epic Games store. The sole motive behind this step of Epic Games is to add extra of security to your account so that no one can access your account.

If a hacker gets successful to access your login information then your account get hacked but if you go for two-factor authentication then it is impossible to gain access to your account.

How to enable Epic games two-factor authentication?

From April 28 to May 21 you need to activate 2FA on your Epic account and after it, you will get a separate security code that you have to enter every time you sign in your Epic account. Currently, players can claim for horror classic Amnesia: The Dark Descent and crafting RPG Crashlands, which will be available for free from April 30 to May 7.

But before accessing free games move to settings and enable 2FA and here is how:

  • First of all, navigate to Epic games site.
  • After it login to your Epic game account.
  • Move into your account by clicking on your profile.
  • Then choose password and security.
  • Scroll down until you get two-factor authentication and finally click on Enable Authenticator App.
  • Scan the QR code with the authenticator app and insert 6 digit security code.
  • You have done folks.

Like this, you can set up 2FA, and next time when you log in to your Epic account you have to input that 6 digit security code.
