The greatest advantage of merging gaming with academic studies has been evident in diverse fields. Acknowledging the advantages, many Gaming companies have offered scholarships to master players to get academic advantages from reputable institutions. One of the recent news reveals that Super Smash Bro Ultimate is now into the same ground to offer scholarships to those who excel in the game. So, if you wish to pursue a US university degree, get pro in gaming. 

The scholarship has been brought about by the University of California, Irvine for the academic year 2019-2020, designed especially for allowing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate champions to pursue higher education privilege. The University has allowed fruition by a generous $50,000 donation by Brain Calle, who is the CEO of Irvine Weekly and LA Weekly publisher Street Media.

Mark Deppe, director of UCI Esports spoke out about the scholarship deal, saying

“We are fortunate to be able to offer scholarships to League of Legends and Overwatch players. When a donor emerged with a desire to support one of his favorite games, we knew this was something we had to pursue to create more opportunities for the ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ student gaming community.”

As listed by TweakTown, the scholarship is a joint provision by UCI’s own UCI Esports and TAG Smash Ultimate Club. The organization will be giving this opportunity to six lucky Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players. The scholarship consists of a $6,000 relaxation but conditioned on the terms that it will require participants to practice between 10 and 15 hours a week while keeping up a minimum GPA of 2.0 and involved tournament competition.

Nintendo has recently announced its new weekly event with less than a week left 8n hand. It is going to be a three-day tournament titled “Heroes VS Villains” that started this Friday and runs for three days. The announcement was made on the Nintendo Australia Twitter account, which states:

The three-day #SmashBrosUltimate Event Tourney “Heroes VS Villains” starts on 09/08! This time-limited tourney exclusively features heroic and villainous fighters. It’s the ultimate clash of good vs. evil! The further you advance, the better the spirit you’ll win!
