Recently, TikTok fined an amount of $5.7 million by the FTC and the app was forced to restrict usage by users below the age of 13. The app has, however, retained the top spot for the first consecutive quarter now.
This comes in a report by Sensor Tower which is an analytics firm. According to the firm, the app had more than 33 million downloads. The app has witnessed an annual increase of around 3.6% consistently for the past 4 years, since 2015.
This lead by TikTok is only evident in the Apple market. In Android, the App was on #3 this quarter. However, this streak will definitely end in Q2 because of App Store removing the app from the store as per the order of the Indian government. ByteDance, the developer, reported that over 15 million app downloads were lost.
WhatsApp took the #1 spot on Android with over 199 million installs. It was then followed by Messenger and then TikTok. After combining the figures from both, The Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, Whatsapp comes out on top with more than 22 million installs. Following it was the Messenger App and then the TikTok app.
